Meet the Founder

I’m Juanita Brandon — a woman shaped by community, strengthened by experience, and driven by purpose. My work in HR has always been rooted in compassion, equity, and the belief that every person deserves access, clarity, and opportunity. Through The Trellis HR Group, I help people and organizations grow with intention and humanity. My full story lives below.

A Purpose That Found Me

I’ve always believed that some careers are chosen — and some careers choose you. My journey into HR has never felt like a path I pursued for myself. Instead, it has always felt like a calling placed in my hands for the purpose of helping others. HR gives you a unique vantage point: you see the inner workings of organizations, the decisions that shape people’s livelihoods, and the moments where compassion and fairness matter most. Being part of those decisions taught me early on that this work is bigger than policies and processes. It’s about people — their dignity, their opportunities, and their ability to thrive.

Rooted in Jackson, Mississippi (The SIP)

Growing up in Jackson, MS shaped everything about who I am and how I lead. Jackson taught me resilience, community, and a steady sense of hope — the kind that inspires you to pour back into the people who poured into you. I was raised to look out for others, to extend a hand when someone needed support, and to believe that every person deserves a fair chance. Those values followed me into every workplace, every leadership role, and ultimately into the creation of The Trellis HR Group.

Why I Built The Trellis HR Group

The Trellis HR Group wasn’t born from ambition — it was born from conviction. After years in corporate HR, I saw firsthand how many talented people were overlooked, underestimated, or simply unprepared because no one had taken the time to guide them. I saw organizations struggling to build equitable, people-centered cultures. And I saw communities — especially women, job seekers without connections, and individuals navigating hardship — who needed someone to believe in them.

My why is simple: I want people to win. And I want organizations to lead with intention, equity, and humanity.

How I Lead

My leadership philosophy is grounded in compassion, transparency, and accountability. I believe in meeting people where they are, helping them grow, and creating environments where they can show up fully as themselves. Whether I’m coaching a leader, guiding a job seeker, or partnering with a small business, I bring the same commitment: to elevate people, strengthen systems, and build workplaces that honor both performance and humanity.

The Work That Matters Most

Beyond consulting, my heart is in service — especially to underserved women, survivors, and individuals rebuilding their lives. Workforce readiness is more than a service offering for me; it’s a mission. It’s the work I feel called to do, the work that aligns with my roots, and the work that fuels the future I’m building through The Trellis HR Group.

Why I Serve

I serve because I believe in the power of people — their resilience, their potential, and their ability to rise when given the right support. My work is grounded in equity and access, but it is also deeply personal. Every leader I coach, every job seeker I guide, and every organization I partner with represents an opportunity to create clarity, confidence, and lasting change. Service is not just how I began this work; it is how I continue to lead it every day.

Professional Background

With more than twenty-five years of experience in human resources, I bring deep expertise across healthcare, manufacturing, IT, education, and nonprofit sectors. My background includes HR leadership roles, workforce readiness coaching, employee relations and compliance guidance, and training for leaders and teams.
